Sylvia Sienikehä Elysiana
Sylvia Elysiana is a death doula, holistic therapist and the owner and founder of Soulmilk Healing Arts Studio. Her practice is based on Hornby Island, British Columbia on Canada's west coast where she hosts death cafés, writes death-centric poetry and makes sculptural cinerary urns for ashes.
SOULMILK HEALING ARTS STUDIO offers a multidimensional and organic approach to wellbeing, honoring the balance of the soul-mind-body. Trained in the traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho Method of Natural Healing as a Reiki Master Teacher and certified in Eastern Therapies and Bodywork as an Ayurvedic Marmatherapist and Yoga Therapist/Teacher, her work integrates two decades of active self study in alternative holistic therapies and in-depth training in energy based medicine, bodywork, yoga, shamanism, astral exploration and meditation practices including vipassana, and open eye transfiguration. Passionate about alternative deathcare and conscious end-of-life issues, Sylvia is a certified death doula, hospice volunteer and member of the National Home Funeral Alliance, Order of the Good Death and the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Maine (FCAM) along with the Salish Sea Hospice Project, Hornby Island Cemetery Committee and CINDEA (Canadian Integrative Network for Death Education and Alternatives) in British Columbia, Canada. Incorporating a love of poetry and cosplay, she can sometimes be found at open mikes, talking about death and life pre-womb in full costume and antlers. The Finnish translation of her middle name, pronounced sea-annie-kay-huh, is 'faery ring' or 'mushroom circle.' Elysiana is is a variant of Elysium or the Elysian Fields, the realm of the dead, in classical Greek mythology. |
